The University of Georgia ranked No. 9 nationally in new college rankings, recently noted by the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal.
The WSJ editorial highlighted a new assessment tool created by the City Journal, which evaluated 100 prominent public and private colleges in the United States on 68 variables across 21 categories covering major aspects of on- and off-campus life.
UGA ranked No. 1 in the nation for curricular rigor and for the quality of its alumni network. The university also received high marks for faculty teaching quality, value added to education, and student outcomes, with a specific acknowledgement to the “strong economic outcomes” UGA delivers for its graduates.
Joining UGA in the top 10 were institutions including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Florida, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Texas at Austin.
These latest rankings extend a year of strong national recognition for the University of Georgia. For the 10th consecutive year, UGA placed in the top 20 among the nation’s best universities, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 rankings.
UGA ranked No. 18 among public universities nationwide according to Forbes and moved into the top 10 national public universities ranking by Niche. UGA was also ranked No. 2 in the nation for best student life and No. 10 for best college campuses according to Niche. Additional accolades from Princeton Review include No. 12 among best value public schools, No. 8 for best alumni networks and No. 10 for access to financial aid.
