Lockheed Martin Welcomes Egypt to the C-130J Tremendous Hercules Fleet

Lockheed Martin Introduces C-130J-30 Super Hercules to Egyptian Air Force

The Egyptian Armed Forces recently announced at the Egypt Global Wind Display that Lockheed Martin will be delivering two C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifters to the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) through a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) with the U.S. Air Force. This move makes Egypt the twenty-third country to join the global Super Hercules operating population.

As the most advanced and proven tactical airlifter in the world, the C-130J-30 brings enhanced capability, increased versatility, and greater power to EAF crews. Egypt currently operates one of the world’s largest C-130H fleets, which plays a significant role in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region, supporting military, peacekeeping, humanitarian, and natural disaster response mission requirements. Egypt now joins seven MENA operators who have chosen the C-130J as their preferred medium-sized tactical airlifter and tanker.

“Egypt is a prominent C-130 operator, using its Hercules fleet to fulfill some of the most demanding mission requirements,” said Rod McLean, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin’s Air Mobility & Maritime Missions business unit. “Welcoming Egypt to the C-130J Super Hercules global fleet is an honor that truly represents the longstanding partnership between our two nations and with Lockheed Martin. With these new C-130J-30s, the Egyptian Air Force’s tactical airlift capability will provide unmatched capabilities and aligned force amplification to serve Egypt, North Africa, and the world.”

The Super Hercules continues to set standards and shape the future of tactical airlift missions, offering numerous advantages not found in other medium-sized tactical airlifters currently in production or operation. To date, Lockheed Martin has delivered over 545 C-130Js, and the global Super Hercules fleet has accumulated more than 3 million flight hours.

Key features of the Super Hercules include proven operational readiness, high reliability, impressive tactical airlift and combat airdrop capabilities, certification by over 20 airworthiness authorities, and enhanced survivability. The C-130J also boasts exceptional interoperability with NATO and partner nations, strong industrial partnerships, and demonstrated low life-cycle costs with significant fuel savings, resulting in a reduced carbon footprint compared to other medium-sized jet airlifters.
