Blooma Farms Expands Footprint with Acquisition of 5-Acre Property in Denver

Formerly, Welby Gardens Site Continues a Legacy of Beautiful Flowers for Local Wholesaler

DENVER, Oct. 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Blooma Farms, a premier wholesale grower that supplies high-quality annuals, perennials, and vegetables to independent garden centers, landscapers, hotels, and municipalities in Colorado, has acquired five acres in Denver, expanding its greenhouse footprint. Formerly home to Welby Gardens, the property is located at 6710 Washington Street, Denver, 80229. The purchase was complete on September 13, 2025, for an undisclosed amount.

“When I heard that Welby Gardens was closing, naturally, I felt compelled to continue to provide product to our independent garden centers and landscapers,” said Jeremy Friedman, owner of Blooma Farms. “There is a growing supply gap with so many greenhouses closing, leaving garden centers scrambling for product. What began as a job has now turned into a crusade to help these small businesses keep selling their beautiful blooms.”

The acquisition of Welby Gardens greenhouses at Washington Street has brought on more than just increased capacity. Al Gerace, the former owner and CEO of Welby Gardens, and, according to the Denver Post, one of the family members behind Colorado’s garden dynasty, has joined forces with Blooma Farms as a lead sales manager. Together, Jeremy and Al are continuing the fight to make sure that the industry receives high-quality plants.

“I’ve been working in the family business since I was eight,” said Al Gerace. “It’s in my family blood, so I guess you really never shut a door.”

Welby Gardens was also the exclusive grower of HardyStart Liners, making the greenhouse set-up beautifully for the expansion of Rocky Mountain Liners’ young plants, the sister company to Blooma Farms.

“The mentorship of Al is our very own gold rush,” said Friedman. “He is the godfather of the industry, and we hit the jackpot when it comes to taking care of our customers.”

The expansion and new partnership with Tagawa Gardens also enable Rocky Mountain Liners to take its plants to more states with Tagawa’s extended distribution network. Friedman commented on his excitement that their Begonias and Dahlias might be landing in new states like Alabama, allowing their product to reach far beyond Colorado’s borders.
