Cognizant, a leading global provider of information technology, consulting, and business process services, has announced the appointment of Rajesh Varrier as World Head of Operations and Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat. Varrier, a business veteran with over 30 years of experience in operations, digital transformation, and leadership, will assume his new role on September 2, 2024.
As World Head of Operations, Varrier will be responsible for overseeing operations, supply excellence, staff planning, and expansion in Bharat. He will also serve as the Chairman & Managing Director of Cognizant Bharat, leading the company’s India-based operations and driving corporate transformation initiatives. In his new role, Varrier will report to Ravi Kumar S, Cognizant’s Prominent Executive Officer.
Commenting on Varrier’s appointment, Ravi Kumar S stated, “Rajesh Varrier is a respected, experienced executive whose operational rigor and entrepreneurial spirit aligns well with Cognizant. As we drive further operational excellence, efficiency, and a sharp focus on execution into our business model, this role is a natural orchestration point for our India-based operations.”
Prior to joining Cognizant, Varrier held executive positions at Infosys, where he served as EVP, Head of Global Services and Infosys Americas, as well as Global Head of Infosys’ Digital and Microsoft businesses. He has a proven track record of driving growth and delivering quality outcomes for clients. Varrier holds undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in Physics and Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai.
As Varrier takes on his new role, Rajesh Nambiar, the outgoing Chairman and Managing Director of Cognizant Bharat, will be leaving the company to become the president of NASSCOM. Nambiar expressed his pride in the achievements of Cognizant and his excitement for his new role, stating, “Cognizant will always have a special place in my heart, and I am honored and truly humbled to be appointed as the president of NASSCOM.”
