Bohemia Interactive Australia (BIA) Secures Contract with NZDF for VBS4 Upgrade and Custom Simulation Development
Bohemia Interactive Australia (BIA) has recently been awarded a contract by the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) for an upgrade to VBS4, a digital desktop simulation for collective tactical and mission rehearsal. The NZDF, one of the earliest customers of VBS, has decided to invest further in the new model, showcasing their trust in the platform. This commitment includes an enterprise-wide license and additional development by BIA to deliver a customized simulation for the NZDF.
The NZDF has also contracted BIA to create an enhanced representation of the New Zealand Light Armoured Vehicle and to provide ongoing maintenance for their license of TerraTools, a landscape generation tool used for high-fidelity simulation environments.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the NZDF and provide them with the latest advancements in simulation technology through our VBS4 release,” said Ryan Stephenson, managing director for BIA. “The NZ Army’s Command and Control Systems School has demonstrated the effectiveness of simulation tools in training their personnel, and we are proud to support their efforts.”
Countries like the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Sweden, along with several other clients, have already upgraded to VBS4. This new version offers significant improvements over previous iterations, including a whole-Earth representation and a more efficient workflow for content creation.
Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a subsidiary of BAE Systems, Inc., has been at the forefront of simulation and training solutions for defense and civilian organizations since 2001. Their VBS products are used by hundreds of thousands of military personnel worldwide, with over 60 NATO and NATO-friendly countries relying on their technology.
