New CDC Data Show Autism Rates Soar: 1 in 31 U. S. Children Diagnosed

IRVINE, Calif., April 16, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Over 25 years ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) began systematically tracking autism prevalence in the United States. In 1970, the rate was 1 in 10,000. Today, the newly released 2022 report of the CDC’s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network (ADDM) reveals a staggering rise: 1 in 31 U. S. children are now diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

This marks a 384% increase since 2000, the same year The Autism Community in Action (TACA) was founded.
